這種方式的臥推常見於Bodybuilding,因為能夠為胸大肌、三頭肌、背及膊提供更大的訓練量,從而刺激肌肉生長。然而對健力亦十分重要,這個訓練能比靜止臥推提供更多訓練量,透過超量訓練,這個動作力量提升後,能有效帶到比賽式臥推中,所以在與比賽日期愈長的期間,通常會集中以類似TNG形式訓練,直到開始接近比賽才以比賽式訓練(Wider Grip, More Arching, Comp Pause)
